The speech that wanted to become a poem
Make a past for yourself
this is the best tip I have yet;
the present is now
the future will come regardless
but you can control
what you leave behind
and how you feel about it
You always hear
about
how
you never lose true friends,
or that if someone leaves,
it was never meant to be
or that
everything will be alright
everything will be alright
in the end
it all sounds lovely
except
they are not being said in a profound,
accepting way
rather as a form of escapism;
we disregard pain
and weakness
we consider it unreal
unimportant
but accepting
that something was right
but you failed
and you have to move on
not because it was not "meant to be"
but because you couldn't make it
is alright
it's alright not to make it sometimes
there is no greater meaning behind it
and you have to move on
because there is nothing else you can do
and it will hurt
and this pain is very real
and very valid
and the hope you still have
is very real
also
also
and you are alive
and you are failing
and you are succeeding
and everything is what you make of it
and every memory is precious
I think the most important thing
is to keep the memories
move on gracefully
end things in a way
that you can keep people
and places
to your heart
and you will not need to say
"it was not meant to be"
you will say
"it was beautiful"
and smile
